Bangaloreans came out in their wackiest avatars to participate in the 4th edition of ‘Kingfisher Run in Costume’, a part of the Majja Run at the TCS World 10K

In its fourth edition, the ‘Kingfisher Run in Costume’ saw a record number of participants dressed in imaginative attires attracting cheers from spectators and shutterbugs alike. While some participants were outfitted for laughs, and some to support causes and spread awareness on issues they firmly believed in, the ‘Kingfisher Run in Costume’ sure did induce tons of fun to the TCS World 10K .

Adding to the cheer, Kingfisher also gratified a few lucky participants with attractive rewards for the best creative costumes. In the guise of mythological character ‘Bhishma’ won Rs. 30,000/- as the ‘Kingfisher Sakkath Bangalorean’, while Ajmaldressed to support abandoned children, while Rituparna Maji was supporting Communal harmony, were the first andsecond runners-up respectively. The DIA Foundation could not contain their excitement and delight when they won the‘Kingfisher Bombaat Brigade’ cash price of Rs. 75,000/-, followed The Bangalore Blues.

A special category, the ‘Kingfisher Green Crusaders’ awarded Beat Raja (supporting greenery and reduction of carbon footprint) and Archana (supporting the usage of recycle products) for their well-thought out and meaningful environmental costumes.

The participants were rewarded by Ramesh Dhembla and Raj Shroff who judged the “Kingfisher Run-in-Costume” for the individual and group prizes.

Speaking about Kingfisher’s association, Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior Vice President Marketing, United Breweries Ltd. said, “The ‘Run in Costume’ is a platform created to encourage people to take a fun route to support noble causes. The concept was first introduced in the year 2004 in association with the Mumbai Marathon and was then replicated across Delhi and Bangalore. We are over-whelmed with the response received. Each year the numbers only seem to increase, thus re-instating the popularity of the concept.”

The ‘Kingfisher Run-in-Costume’ is part of the ‘Majja Run’ – a 6 km run which takes place alongside the actual TCS World 10K. The ‘Kingfisher Run-in-Costume’ has in the past resulted in a big street party with enthusiastic participation from thousands in innovative and crazy costumes.
