Team from Mcleod Russel qualifies for the finals of World Corporate Golf Challenge |
| Bangkok, April 11, 2012: Kolkata Teams took the first and second positions in the national finals of Take Solutions World Corporate Golf Challenge (TSWCGC) as the team of Mcleod Russell and Barclays Wealth recorded 63 and 60 points respectively, with the former earning a spot at the World Final scheduled at Fancourt Golf Course, South Africa. The Mcleod Russell team of Managing Director, Aditya Khaitan and three time National champion and Arjuna Awardee Lakshman Singh scored 31 and 32 points respectively to stand 3 points clear of team Barclays Wealth. Representing Team Barclays Wealth wasMukesh Kapur of Timber and Timber products scoring 32 points with a Handicap of 6 and Harmeet Sahney, Head, Kolkata Division, Barclays Wealth, contributed 28 points, playing off a Handicap of 4 to set up second place finish for their team.
Best individual gross score for the day was won by Aman Sawhney, CEO, Swiss Military lifestyle Products Pvt. Ltd., who scored 28 points, playing off an 8 Handicap. The tournament was played at Suwan Golf and Country Club in team format. Over 500 corporate teams participated in qualifying rounds held at four cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata throug the year. Only a total number of 14 teams with two players each were selected to take part in the national finals. It was usual business for Indians as they registered yet another top two positions having finished first or second four times in the past 5 years with one title and three times runner up position during this time. The winning team, Mcleod Russell, will now take part in world final of TSWCGC scheduled at Fancourt Golf Course, South Africa from May 1-6, 2012. With TSWCGC national finals culminating in Bangkok, all eyes now are on TSWCGC world finals where Team Mcleod Russel is expected to produce a strong Indian challenge. |
