On-the-spot Pensions for Widows and Senior Citizens
On the spot pensions was granted to several people at an official function organized at Yediyur Sports Ground, opposite Yediyur Lake last week. In terms of recent government notification widows and senior citizens over the age of 65 are eligible for a monthly pension of Rs.400/- revised from Rs. 200/- pm and physically challenged persons are eligible for a monthly pension of Rs.1000/-.
The function was attended by Minister for Transport, R. Ashok, Special Deputy Commissioner Bangalore South, Ramanjulu, Tahsidar, Satish Babu and Boraiha, and jurisdictional revenue officers. It was organized by Lakshmikantha, Bangalore City BJP Secretary.
There were fifteen volunteers to help the applicants to fill up the forms. A team of doctors issued the necessary Health Certificate and spot sanction of Pension was made. Over 50 members were sanctioned pension immediately by the Minister, who announced that he would seek Rs.100 crores for the development of the area from the Government.
The organizers told TWB that they are still receiving a number of applications for pension and they are being attended to.
