Souvenir from Ramya Cultural Academy

Ramya Cultural Academy is a registered charitable trust, working for the cause of poor, meritorious students and young, talented and upcoming artistes providing them with required assistance since its inception in 1993. As a part of their 15th Anniversary celebrations, the academy proposes to bring out a souvenir.

An overview:
The academy has conducted more than 200 events till date, some of which are given below:
FELICITATION PROGRAMMES : Sri Mysore Ananthaswamy, Sri Garthikere Raghanna, Smt. H R Leelavathi, Sri Shimoga Subbanna, Sri C Aswath, Dr. G S Shivarudrappa

'Kuvempu Namana' / 'Anantha Namana'.
In the year 2000, through the year long programme 'Geetha Dhaare' conducted every month, 172 new compositions in Sugam Sangeet were presented
'Madhura Sangeetha-Sumadhura Nenapu' - Kannada Film Music in retrospect, a two-day programme conducted in 2000

2001: 'Geetha Maalike' conducted every month, a platform for new aspiring artistes.
Vintage Hindi Film hits programme in March 2001 in aid of Gujarat Relief Fund (Rs.25,000/- donated to CM's Relief Fund)

Dr. Rajkumar Felicitation / Tribute in May 2004 for his 50 years in the Kannada Film Industry
All-night programme of Vintage Hindi Film hits programme in January 2005 in aid of Tsunami Relief Fund (Rs.25,000/- donated to CM's Relief Fund)

Dr. Rajkumar Shraddhaanjali Programme in May 2006 in aid of cine artiste, late Sri Gabbur's family (A Purse of approx Rs.25,000/- given as aid)

'Savithri-Sundaresan' Aid to meritorious poor students every year

Production of Classical and Sugam Sangeet Albums to promote culture, art and artistes (the latest being 'Suvarna' a two-song CD to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of Karnataka in Oct 2006 - Lyrics & Music : S. Bali)

22nd April 2007 : 75 years of Indian Cinema, a retrospective.

28th July 2007 : Commemoration of 50 years of Playback Singing - Felicitations to 'Naada Devathe' S. Janaki

19th January 2008 : Felicitations to 'Evergreen Star' Dev Anand

26th April 2008 : S Janaki Musical Evening in memory of Sri Raj Kumar

07th June 2008 : Musical Evening in memory of Sri Puttanna Kanagal

05th July 2008 : Musical Evening in memory of Sri R N Jayagopal

Charitable Activities
The academy brought out a book called 'Health for All, Health for Everybody' written by Sri V Gopalakrishnan which was released by Sri Nittoor Sreenivasa Rau, former Chief Justice of High Court of Karnataka in 1995 ;
Coming from a family of Educationists and Artists/Art lovers, keeping with the aims and objectives of the trust, the academy made it an annual affair to give away "Savithri-Sundaresan Awards" to the first Three Rank holders in the  SSLC Examinations since 1995 to encourage students pursue higher studies and develop into responsible citizens ;

The State Government doing away with the SSLC Rank-system in 1999, the academy adopted the Model Primary School, Yediyur (the students are from the lower strata of society, whose parents can ill afford to send their wards to school) and started to give away the awards to the poor students who secured the highest marks in VII Standard from 2001 thereby instill confidence into them to study further to have minimum qualification to lead a dignified life  ;

Ramya Cultural Academy was probably the only cultural organization to celebrate 50th Year of Indian Independence on 14th August 1997, with a Programme of Patriotic Songs by 50 singers at Gokhale Institute ;
Charity Musical Evening 'Geeta Sandhya' was organized on 29th August 1997 to provide monetary  support to reputed Harmonium Artiste Sri Appi, who was living in penury ;

15th March 2001 saw the academy organizing a Charity Show 'Woh Jab Yaad Aaye' a Vintage Hindi Film Musical Evening, in aid of Gujarat Quake Victims at Ravindra Kalakshetra  -  proceeds donated to The Chief Minister's Gujarat Relief Fund ;

A Charity Show Dev Anand Musical Special "Legends" was organized on 11th December 2004 at Ravindra Kalakshetra in aid of Belaku Sishu Nivas, Bangalore-19, a Home for Orphans and Destitutes ;
Tsunami was another disaster which shook the world and shattered the lives of lakhs of people on 26th December 2004 - the academy immediately took up the cause to organize a Whole Night Musical Show on 13th January 2005 at Ravindra Kalakshetra  -  proceeds donated to The Chief  Minister's Tsunami Relief Fund ;

The students of Model Primary School, Yediyur which was selected to participate in the 'Suvarna Karnataka Celebrations' (but were left to fend for themselves for costumes etc., by the Dept of Education) were provided with financial assistance for costumes, to perform at the Kanteerava Stadium during the occasion ;

A Charity Musical Evening in memory of R D Burman was conducted on 27th June 2007 in aid of New Ark Mission of India, an orphanage for the destitutes, Bangalore at ADA Rangamandira ;
A Charity Musical Evening in aid of Belaku Sishu Nivas, an orphanage for destitutes, was conducted in February 2008 at the RV Dental College ;
