Man for All Seasons
All politicians are the same, they only talk about serving the people but do nothing. It's a universal sentiment, but there are always exceptions to the rule. Like for instance, N Lakshmi Kantha, city BJP secretary, who has been active in public life for nearly 25 years. He has held free medical camps, distributed free books to the poor students, convened civic grievance meets and interactions with officials and party leaders, planted saplings, mobilized reliefs and supplies for Bihar victims, fought for renovation of temples, taught Aksharabhyasa to 150 children every year, held sports, music, dance events, apart from being an avid sportsman himself having represented the State in national events.
A long-time resident of 6th Block, Lakshmi Kantha recently organised a meet with Bescom officials to discuss the maintenance of existing street lights, proper power supply and shifting of old electric poles, introducing high-tech transformers to avoid frequent short circuits and such other problems. Bescom officials Ramaraj, Executive Engineer and Manjunath, AEE interacted with the people.
Apart from being the secretary of the BJP's Bangalore unit, he is also managing trustee of Sri Abhaya Ganapathi temple, President of Supremos Youth Club, Secretary of Sri Samskruthi Samsthe, Vice President of Black Sox Club, active member of the Yediyur Civic Association, and general secretary, Jayanagar 6th Block residents welfare association, and vice president of Federation of Jayanagar Residents Association.
