Sharath Lohithasawa

'Ready to do different roles'

Like father, like son. You can say that about Sharath Lohithaswa,, son of the senior Lohithaswa, a veteran Kannada character actor who has acted in nearly 500 films and won awards. You can also say you cannot keep a good man down for long. When he was in Class V, he directed a street play. Today, he has won name and fame in Kannada. At the 200th episode celebration of the TV serial Mugilu, produced by Haridas,  of Time Code Films, and directed by Tilak, Sharath took time off for TWB and spoke about his fans, films, and more.

TWB: You looked scary and really tough as Kothwal Ramachandra in Aa Dinagalu.
Sharath (smiling): Actually, I am soft-spoken and totally different from my screen roles.

TWB:
Tell us some things you differ from your characters you are playing.
Sharath: Well, I majored in English literature, am humble, and am 35 years, unlike some of my characters who are 50 and more!

TWB:
You got a best supporting award for Aa Dinagalu. What is different about it?
Sharath: Aa Dinagalu was a gangster film that appealed to even family audiences and not those who like such films. It was taken with a touch of class. I owe my success and fame to Chaitanya and Agni Sridhar, the director and the producer of the film who encouraged me at every step.

TWB:
How has been the response after Aa Dinagalu?
Sharath: It is been tremendous! I have signed up 10 movies including one in Tamil.

TWB: Don’t you feel there is a danger of being typecast in such Don kind of roles?
Sharath: I am open to accept any role that is challenging. I have been in the industry form many years and acted in films as well as TV serials, so I don’t mind if the role is a TV serial or a film.

TWB:
What according to you explains the success of Aa Dinagalu?
Sharath: It is a combination of commendable direction, excellent star cast, high class technical crew and a fantastic script. I am proud that it was the first Kannada movie that ran well in PVR Delhi.
