BN Vijaykumar's Clean-up Campaign in 9th Blk

Contractor penalized Rs one lakh

It's not often that you see an elected representative make the rounds of his constituency AFTER he is elected. But first time Jayanagar MLA BN Vijaykumar seems to be intent on making a real impact. On Aug 30, he, along with his party workers, knuckled down to the second phase of his Clean-up Yatra at 9th Block, Jayanagar. Vijaykumar along with former corporators CK Ramamurthy and B Somashekar, accompanied by the jurisdictional engineers and officials of BBMP, Bescom, BWSSB and Horticulture department made a detour of ward 64 from East End 'A' to 'D' Main, interacting with the residents about the state of drainage, collection of garbage, traffic, street lights, etc and giving spot solutions wherever possible. The MLA asked the vendors and commercial establishments to allow parking on one side of the road and vegetable vendors on the other side.

Former corporator CK Ramamurthy told TWB that the previous contractor had not carried out the works as per the contract and so would be imposed a penalty of Rs one lakh.

The schedule for the forthcoming ward visits is: September 6 - ward 57; September 13 - ward 59; September 20 - ward 60; September 27 - ward 58 from 8 am to 12 noon on the following  Saturday
