Gujarat Handloom & Handicraft exhibition cum sale
This is a 'Gujarat experiment' that everyone will want to join. Gujarat Emporium is organising the Gujarat Handloom & Handicraft exhibition cum sale at @ Shyam Bhavan # 919, 9th Cross, near Badami Hall, JP Nagar, 2nd Phase, Sept Sept 19-28, 2008. The sale features a wide variety of crafts such as tie-and-dye, embroidery, block prints, leather puppets, beadwork and jewellery. with 20% govt. rebate
The handicrafts products on display boast of a wide range of rich embroidery that showcase the talents of homemakers in remote villages bordering India and Pakistan near Kutch, said T.V. Sudarsanan, Manager.
The traditional Ajraku and Chuni block prints are from Kutch; garments like salwar suits, jackets, skirts, sarees, bed covers, cushion covers are made with block prints. You can also check out the hand crafted roof covering, canopies, still a prominent part of Gujarat appliqué work done by Kutch craftsmen. There are also other embroidery works on wall hangings, superfine (Tie & Dye) on fabrics like cotton and silk sarees, dupattas, dress materials done in Jamnagar and Bhuj Mandi of Kutch district, beads work, metal engraving on Aluminium and brass sheet metal from Ahmedabad. Products range from jewellery box, photo frames, service trays, key chain stand and many functional items of utility, apart from furniture items like jhula and sofa sets.
