Visually challenged gets cash award from CM
The Independence Day was celebrated with grace and grandeur on the 15th of August at the Manekshaw Parade Grounds. One of the chief attractions of the day is the parade. The parade has one interesting part which touches the hearts all viewers and that is the march past of the physically challenged. Samarthanam has been a regular participant in the parade and a regular winner too. The 32 visually challenged students of Samarthanam with their disciplined show and vigor have won the second prize in the state level march past.
“Twenty days of rigorous practice and 3 days of rehearsals at the Parade grounds has definitely yielded positive results. Our 20 totally blind and 12 partially blind students have performed at their level best” said Mr.Devaraja, the instructor.
The honorable chief minister of Karnataka Shri Yedyurappa and Mr. Shankar Bidri IPS, Commissioner of Police Bangalore presented the trophy to the leaders of the team Venkatesh K and Ramyashree.
Mr.Yedyurappa announced a cash award of Ten Thousand Rupees to all participating teams and also announced that a monthly pension of thousand rupees would be given to individuals with 75% or more disability.
