Dance Festival from Nrityakalamandiram

Jayanagar-based Bhanumathi's Nrityakalamandiram is celebrating its silver jubilee with a number of group bharatanatyam performances from Dec 30 to Jan 27 at the -.

On Saturday, Mamatha Karanth and Savitha Kumare and Pravin Kumar and Soundarya Srivasta will present bharatanatyam, while Hari and Chetana will present a Kathak dance. Sri RV Raghavendra, Managing Trustee, Ananya will be the chief guest.

On Jan 20, the performers will be Chitra Vinod and Sajina Venugopal and Geetha Narayanaswamy and Namitha Kulkarni (bharatanatyam), Nandini Mehta and Murali Mohan (Kathak), Bhratanatyam by Geetha Narayanaswamy and Namitha Kulkarni.

On Jan 27: Performances will be by Bharatanjali group of 25 dancers, Shama and Sanjay Shantaram (Kuchipudi). Sri I.M. Vittala Murthy, Secretary, Dept of Kannada & Culgure, Information & Tourism, GoK will preside over the awards ceremony as chief guest.

Guru Bhanumathi is a veteran choreographer and dancer and said at her centre, the accent is on total involvement of every artiste and on perfect synchronisation of every rhythmic and suggestive movement. The involvement fuels the fervour of the artiste and the fervour brings about a collective impact resulting in formations - exotic and thrilling in their visual effect, she explained. |
