Robbers loot Rs 10 lakh from house in 7th Blk
Four armed robbers aged between 20 and 25 broke open the window grills and entered the house of a retired IFS officer in 7th Block, Jayanagar in the early hours of Tuesday. Mr DG Wesley, his daughter and two grandsons were sleeping soundly when the robbers made their entry. One of Wesley’s grandsons heard a noise and when he came in to the hall to check, he was attacked by the gang. The robbers shut off power supply for the house. It was also raining heavily outside at the time which provided additional cover for the robbers. When the other family members came out, they were also threatened by the robbers to cooperate with them or else. The gang members took away cash, jewelry and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh and made good their escape. In a complaint lodged with the Banashankari police station, Wesley said the robbers were speaking in Kannada and Telugu.
Cautioning the residents, Police Inspector Manjunath said of late many such instances were being reported from HSR Colony, Vijaya Colony and surrounding areas. A neighbour of Wesley said the new police commissioner should increase police beats in such theft-prone areas during night time.
