ABOUT JSSTICE
Karnataka had always been poorly represented in the central services. Even from the administrative point of view it is necessary that the State has its complement of officers in adequate numbers. It was always the desire of Late Jagadguru Sri Shivarathrathreshwara Rajendra Mahaswamiji to start an Institute for this purpose. To remedy this lacuna and to encourage candidates even from the rural areas to enter the Civil Services both at the Central and the State level, Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreshwara Training Institute for Competitive Examinations, [JSSTICE for short,] was started in 1991-92 by His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratheswara Desikendra Mahaswamigalavaru, President, J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore.
The objective of the Institute is to instill self-confidence and foster competitive skills among the candidates so as to enable them to serve the country at different levels. The Institute which is the product of the farsighted vision of His Holiness is open to candidates of all religions and faiths. Though reckoned as a premier Training Institute it is not commercial in its operation.
This Institute located in a spacious building at Jayanagar, Bangalore offers Pre-examination coaching to selected young and bright students to prepare for All India Services like the Civil Services Examination [IAS, IPS, IA & AS, etc.] and the Indian Forest Service for which recruitment is done by the Union Public Service Commission and to prepare for competitive examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Public Service Commission, [KAS, KPS, etc.].
The Institute has a well-equipped Competitive Examination oriented library and provides excellent environment for study. The faculty of the Institute comprises eminent Professors who have long experience of teaching at reputed Centers of Learning. Giving individual attention to every student is a special feature of JSSTICE. It has hostel facility for girls and boys from outside Bangalore.
During the past sixteen years, 165 candidates have successfully passed through JSSTICE and joined the Civil Services like the IAS, IPS, IRS, IPS, IA & AS, etc,. It is also to the credit of JSSTICE that Smt. Vijayalaxmi Bidari topped the civil services examination in the country in 2000. In addition to Smt. Vijayalaxmi Bidari, fifteen trainees were also successful in the same year.
Similar success has been achieved in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 with 12 trainees, 13 trainees, 9 trainees, 14 trainees, 13 and 08 trainees passing out respectively in the All India Services. One of the trainees secured the 8th Rank in 2001. In 2007, eight trainees in Civil Services Examination have successfully passed through JSSTICE.
