TRIBUTES TO DR. SYAMA PRASAD MOOKERJEE

New Delhi, 6 July 2008: Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Somnath Chatterjee and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri L.K.Advani were among other dignitaries who paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his 107th Birth Anniversary, today.
The function was also attended by  Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office;  Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Shri Ravi Shanker Prasad, and other members of Parliament and  former Members of Parliament.

The Secretary-General of Lok Sabha, Shri P.D.T. Achary, and the Secretary-General of Rajya Sabha, Dr. V.K. Agnihotri, also paid floral tributes.

A booklet containing the profile of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries.

The  portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was unveiled by the then President of India, Shri R. Venkataraman, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 31 May 1991.
