BSNL lines go kaput

To gain something one has to lose something. In about a year's time, the residents of JP Nagar are going to have an underpass and flyover but presently they are undergoing a lot of problems with BSNL landline and broadband connectivity, due to the work going on at Puttenahalli. The optical cables are damaged and areas effected are Puttenahalli, JP Nagar 6th Phase, Eswari Layout, Abbiah Layout, Jarganahalli, Astalakshmi Layout and adjacent areas since one month.

BSNL is the only broadband and landline which has proved to be good in terms of connectivity and price, but  now things are messy. The JTOs and linesmen are struggling hard to rectify the situation every day. The newly shifted 5th Block Jayanagar customer care office is busy not with accepting bill payments, but in handling the complaints. Normally, the scheduled time for meeting the JTO is from 3 to 5 pm, but people are seen to be visiting the office almost throughout the day.

One good thing is, the officials are attending to the public complaints with courtesy, some of the land lines are rectified. While some of the lines are totally dead, some are working but with distraction, some land lines are working but not the broadband, and so on and so forth.

The JTO office said they are stretching their resources to the full extent and the problems will be rectified within 10 days.

Some people complained that while their phone lines were dead for the past two months and lying unused, they continue to be billed promptly even for the unused period. The area manager of south east office in 7th Block, Jayanagar told TWB that in all such cases, BSNL will reimburse the amount in the next bill after the phone lines resume working. For claiming reimbursement, the consumer has to give a request letter for rebate of bill by mentioning the date from when and till when, address it to Customer Relations officer, BSNL.
