From Ramya Cultural Academy
A Treat for RN Jayagopal fans
For a generation of Kannada film fans, the name RN Jayagopal conjures up myriad feelings – of joy, warmth, and affection. The doyen of Kannada film music, RN Jayagopal – who passed away at the age of 73 years – has penned over 1,600 songs, written the dialogues for 120 films, directed 8 films, and provided lyrics and music for 15 albums. RNJ (as he was fondly called) was managing the Vidya-Vinaya-Vinoda School in Chennai and recently built a full fledged recording studio in Bangalore.
In memory of the music composer, the Jayanagar-based Ramya Cultural Academy is organizing a tribute to him showcasing his contribution to the film industry, on Saturday, July 5, at Ravindra Kalakshetra (from 6 pm onwards). The cream of vintage music lovers, artistes, associates and other dignitaries will be in attendance to grace the occasion.
A registered charitable trust, Ramya Cultural Academy has been working for the cause of poor, meritorious students and young, upcoming artistes by raising funds through its music programmes. It has conducted more than 200 events since its inception in 1993.
