Kalam to give away Technovation Awards

The India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry on Thursday, June 13, announced the winners of Technovation Awards 2008.

The Technovation awards ceremony will be held in Bangalore later this month.    Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India will be the keynote speaker.

Prof. Juzer M Vasi
, Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Mumbai won the TechnoVisionary Award. This award is given to an academician/researcher for outstanding contribution in the field of semiconductors. Prof. Krishna Saraswat of Stanford University won this honour last year.
Prof. Bhargab B. Bhattacharya is the recipient of the TechnoMentor award while IIT Chennai won the rolling trophy- the TechnoShield.

Research scholars from IISc and IIT Chennai and IIT Kharagpur were the other winners. Declaring the awards, Ms. Poornima Shenoy, President ISA said, “Research is core to the country’s technology industry. Technovation Awards promote semiconductor research by recognizing the contributions of our research scholars and academics. ”

The Technovation Awards are emerging as one of the most sought recognitions for researchers in the field of semiconductors and embedded software.

India Semiconductor Assn (ISA): The India Semiconductor Association (ISA) is the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry.
