City Union Bank offers freebies for SB a/c holders

In banking circles, the mantra for March is, low cost deposits. And City Union Bank is pulling out all the stops with an aggressive campaign for mobilizing savings bank accounts. CUB is offering a number of facilities free of cost to its customers, such as, email for statement of accounts, debit card (with tie ups with Visa), mobile banking and internet banking.

Prospective SB account holders will be required to maintain a minimum balance of Rs 1,000. The bank also offers several types of current accounts for the business community, like multi-city current standard, multi-city current classic, multi-city current premium and multi-city current gold, with each account bundled with different benefits. To add a competitive edge to its services, the bank is open for business from 9 am to 4 pm, a release stated.

Statistics: For Q3, CUB has posted total income of Rs 176.15 crore, up by 60%. Gross profit also went by 60% to Rs 43.22 crore. Bank chairman S Balasubramanian stated that CUB had achieved the milestone of Rs 10,000 crore total business, and is poised to cross Rs 12,000 crore by March 2008.
