Celebrating Mahasivarathri with Cricket
If cricket is our religion, Mahasivarathri was the perfect occasion to celebrate it. The Chalukya Gelayara Belaga organized its 3rd year Flood-light cricket tournament at Durga Parmeshwari Temple Grounds, JP Nagar, which saw 35 teams taking part. The highlight of the tournament was the participation of two teams comprising visually impaired youngsters from the Samarthanam Trust. All the matches started from 9 pm on Mahasivarathri and concluded at 9 am the following day. Each match was for 6 overs, with 9 players in a team, the winners of the tournament won the cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and a shield, while the runner-up got cash prize of Rs 5,000/
Sri H.C. Krishna, S.K. Nataraj, former Corporator, presided over as chief guests. The tournament was sponsored by Sri Gurudev, L. Ramesh and Sridhar, President of Chalukya Gelayara Belaga.
