Inter-college cricket tournament
BHSFGC retain trophy
The game’s not over till the last ball is bowled, it is said about cricket. And how this proved true on the concluding day of the inter-college staff cricket tournament organized by the BHS First Grade College, Jayanagar. In the finals, when St Joseph’s Art and Science College, powered by a fighting half century by Newton and 45 by Patrick, set a target of 196 runs, it seemed like they had a winning total, as they had the defending champion, BHSFG ‘A’ on the ropes. The latter needed 17 runs off the last over and many felt it was all over bar the shouting. But BHSFG ‘A’ chased the target with a flurry of fours and a six, and were crowned champions. St Joseph’s team had to be content with the runner-up trophy once again like last year. For the winners, Vinay turned in a match-winning knock of 78 runs.
Overall eleven teams took part, including two from the host college. The participating teams were St Joseph Arts & Science College, Vijaya College, Vijaya PU College, National College (Basavanagudi), Vijaya Evening College, SSMRV, Mahaveer Jain College, Surana College, BHSFGC-A, BHSFGC-B, and PESIT.
