Mahashivarathiri Celebration
The Sri Shakti Ganapathi temple trust, 4th ‘T’ Block Jayanagar will perform special homas and abhishekams at the Sri Bhavani Shankara temple on Mahashivarathri, March 5, from 6 pm in the evening Wednesday up to 5 am the next morning.
Over two decades old, the Bhavani Shankara temple’s newly installed deity, Lord Shiva is not shaped like the usual square shape found everywhere, but in ancient classical style, etched step by step, and 4.5 feet in height, said Rajkumar, secretary. Over the years, the temple has gained fame for consummating the wishes of the devout who sincerely pray for Lord Shiva, he said.
The temple premises also houses a temporary convention hall where public grievances meet are held once in two months with civic agencies and the police, said VP Swamy, president of the trust. Other activities include yoga classes, chanting of Vishnusahasranama daily in the evenings, annual Geetha jayanti, Sathyanarayana Pujas, devotional lectures, etc. Those who wish to donate to the temple may call 9448140515.
