"Deccan" Gopinath wows gathering

The man who made it possible for the common man to “simply fly” needs no introduction. Captain Gopinath, promoter of Deccan Aviation, wowed an audience at ‘Momentum Karnataka’ a brain-storming meet organised recently at the Leela Palace, sharing fascinating tidbits about his life and passion for flying.

Captain Gopinath shocked the gathering saying operationalising an airport does not cost the skies. The government can operationalise the Palani airport by earmarking just Rs two crores, he averred. Lashing out at the apathetic attitude of the officialese, he pointed out that the Bellary airport was operational as early as 1932. The Government should not deceive the people by giving the excuse of the need for big expense for remodeling airports, he said, emphasizing that a small investment can truly go a long way, given the right will and planning.
