An exclusive OP Nayyar Special

Jab tak suraj chand rahega, OP Nayyar, tera naam rahega. Can we ever forget this legendary music composer's immortal numbers, sung by all the big legends of the past, Talat Mehmood, Geeta Dutt, Shamshad, Mohammad Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kappor, Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar. For all those who swear by his name and swing to his tunes even today, here's a great opportunity to relive those magical tunes. Gaate Rahe Mera Dil, a famous programme of old Hindi songs, will be presented at the Chowdiah Memorial on Saturday, Feb 2, by Divine Mother Society (DMS), a charity outfit. The organizers have roped in artistes from all over the country to re-create the unique OP Nayyar magic, viz. Anil Bajpai, Priya Pachal from Mumbai, Nayan Shah, Calicut, Surojit Guha, Bangalore, Jaya Rajagopal and Anitha Santhanam from Chennai, and Premkumar from Mumbai (compere). Old Hindi numbers from the 1940s to 1970s will be presented by the artistes. Expect a blast, for the Hindu recently described the programme as "one of the biggest in India featuring old Hindi songs".

The funds collected from the show will be used to provide free tuitions to poor students in Bangalore, according to the organizers.
