Intnl Award for Buoyancee
For the alumni of Buoyancee, it was indeed a special moment and the rarest of rare honours, when Ramya Angadi, Director of its flagship project, Build India, won the international Global Social Entrepreneur Award.
The ‘Global Young Social Entrepreneurs, from GKP, Global Knowledge Partnership, funded by the likes of Microsoft, is the world’s first multi-stakeholder network in the area of ICT for development.
Established in 1997 with a mission to share knowledge and build partnerships, GKP connects organisations across sectors and regions to promote knowledge and innovation in the use of ICT for development. GKP is governed by its members and supported by a global Secretariat based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Global Knowledge Conference is a flagship initiative of the Global Knowledge Partnership.
The recognition is richly deserved. Buoyancee has cultivated a reputation for serving the underprivileged and empowering the youth. The centre conducts free training in five languages, teaching soft skills and life skills to different segments of society – students, underprivileged and impoverished sections, youth, corporates and women. This year, it is targeting to train 60,000 youths.
The ‘Third Global Knowledge Conference’ held recently in Kuala Lumpur brought together 100 global winners of the “Young Social Entrepreneurs” award, donors and eminent personalities from all over the world totaling in all 2000.
“It was a great exposure to interact with dedicated and committed people who aspire to do something for their country” said Ms. Ramya Angadi, who represented Buoyancee at the conference. Buoyancee’s Build India Project which is dedicated to build soft skills and life skills in children, teens, youth, women and corporates, came in for high praise from all quarters.

Danish Sait, who won the international award for being the Best Master of Ceremonies, acknowledged that he was trained at Buoyancee. Kubra, who has won acclaim for her eloquence as a speaker in Dubai, also was a Buoyancee student in ’95. A number of young Koreans too have been trained at Buoyancee, revealed Ramya.
Ramya added that it was an enriching experience to interact with former drug addicts who had successfully kicked the habit and were now leading a new life. “They are really an inspiration to today’s stressed people,” she said.
Buoyancee’s Build India Project’s channel partners are Rotary International, Lions International, Junior Chamber, SVC Bank, KAPL, Mphasis Technologies and This Week Bangalore.
