12 fulfilling years of charity

Jayanagar 9th Block's charity organization, Vaaskamal celebrated its 12th anniversary by organizing a musical and cultural programme at Dwarakanath Bhavan recently. As many as 247 awards were presented to the prize winning participants in several competitions organized by Vaaskamal to commemorate its 12th anniversary. There were prizes for participants comprising children, women, and senior citizens in essay writing, drawing, elocution and quiz competitions. The organizers donated sarees, bedsheets and medicines to old age homes on the occasion. Doctors in the panel of Vaaskamal were also honoured with shawls and citations. Sri.Jayawant Nayak, Sri. Upendra Nayak, Sri. A.G. Pai, Mumbai, Sri. Ramachandra Shenoy presided over the prize winning and Vaaskamal Souvenir release ceremony.The event concluded with a musical concert by Dr Nagaraj Rao, Havalde & Party.

Started by Sri VN Kamath and Smt Suneeta Kamath, Vaaskamal regularly donates free medicines and utility articles to old age homes, orphanages and the mentally challenged inmates at Nimhans.

"Our priority is the health care of the poor and economically backward people and secondly, to serve the cause of education through scholarships to the poor students," said VN Kamath.

Over the past 12 years, Vaaskamal has provided free medicines and life saving drugs, consumer products and utility articles, dress materials and household items to 5 old age homes, 6 blind and physically handicapped children's schools, 3 orphanages, one school for the handicapped at Yelagiri Hills, and many schools and orphanages in other States like Tamil Nadu and Meghalaya.
