You can't fake your interview now
Did you know one out of three resumes misrepresent facts, while 15-24% of resumes in India are fake? A KPMG study reveals this shocking data, while noting that the sectors that face the highest risks are IT, financial, entertainment and telecom.
Clearly, impersonation is increasingly becoming a threat and companies are devising innovative ways to differentiate the genuine from the fake. In this regard, Wipro has already taken the lead by resorting to video interviews. According to reports, it has set up three video kiosks at its two campuses in Bangalore and another campus in Chennai.
The video interview is remarkably simple and this is how it works. You (the candidate called for the interview) walk into the video kiosk installed at the company's campus and dial a pre-determined number at the given time. The company's HR personnel or the interviewer picks up the phone at the other end and the interview begins. To avoid impersonation, the video phone is equipped with a memory card that captures your photograph. The photo and the interview results are then digitally sent to a central database.

Use of video phones for conducting interviews saves the recruiting company lot of time, money, while eliminating impersonations. This is all the more critical for big ticket companies like Wipro which recruits nearly 5,000 candidates every quarter.
Other companies like IBM, Cisco India, HP, Nortel and Nike use various tech tools to combat this menace, such as video conferencing, TelePresence, IP phones, etc. Last year, IT majors like IBM India, Wipro, Satyam, Infosys and TCS had to terminate the employment of thousands of fake candidates. |
