Study centres de-recognised
Enrolling for a distance education course at a study centre? Look before you leap. Check whether the centre is recognized by the varsity and its validity. Recently, the Bangalore University de-recognized 13 study centres offering distance education courses of the Directorate of Correspondence Courses as they lacked the necessary infrastructure to offer the courses. The Directorate has asked the centres not to enroll students for 2007-08. The centres as per reports are: SCS Institute of Higher Education, NR Road, near Town Hall; Bhuvaneswari Correspondence College, Park Road, Thulasithota; Sri Janaki Education Foundation, Elephant Rock Road, Jayanagar II Block; Miranda Education Society, 6lh Cross, 10th Main, HAL II Stage, Indiranagar; The Renuka College of Business Management, NH 4, Dasanapura, opposite Global Transports; Bangalore College and Research Institute, HMT Main Road, 9th Main, Gokula 1 Phase, Mathikere; Gnanaganga English School, Yelahanka Educational Association compound; Manasa Educational Trust, 5n Cross, Sampige Road, Malleswaram; Gauthama Buddha Education Trust, Chamarajpet; SISA Social Welfare Services, 41st Main Road, Whitefield; Oceanic Education Society, Sri Maruthi Complex, 8th Cross, Malleswaram (all in Bangalore); JB Social, Economic and Educational Welfare Trust, Bangarpet Circle, Kolar and Hameed Sultan Educational Society, Double Road, Mandya.
Those who have already enrolled for different courses should now get directly enrolled with the Directorate of Correspondence Courses by paying the required fee before Dec 31 (without fine) and Jan 15 (with fine of Rs 100).
