BJP Wave

Yeddy, Reddy, Steady, Go!

In the afterglow of its thumping victory in Gujarat, the State BJP is on a high and is itching to get into election mode. Its campaign got a further boost with film producer and director Madan Patel and his son Mayur Patel joining its ranks, in the presence of senior party leaders, Ananth Kumar, national general secretary, CM-in-waiting, B.S. Yeddyurappa and former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu.

Addressing mediapersons in the city, Ananth Kumar challenged the Congress to hold the elections in February "if it has got the courage to face the peopie". "We are ready to face the people, now it is for the UFA government to accept our challenge," he thundered. The BJP leader alleged that the Congress might use its clout to pressure the EC to postpone elections, after its shattering defeat in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

The party's senior leaders plan to petition the President of India to direct the Election Commission of India to hold early elections. There is also a view to take up the issue with the Supreme Court.

Former deputy CM Yeddyurappa charged that all development works had come to a grinding halt in the State ever since President's Rule was imposed. He averred that there was a BJP wave in the State and appealed to the people to vote a single party to power for good and effective governance.
