In IT, Small is BigTerrorist groups targeting B'lore

Terrorist groups are attempting to target Bangalore, and the State police are fully alert to this threat. Stating this in the aftermath of the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Advisor to Governor PHK. Tharakan said the State has been put on high alert and security beefed up to avoid any untoward incidents. Senior police officials said the city police have intensified general patrolling and were fully prepared to meet any untoward reaction from the minorities. Extra security has been provided in many sensitive areas of the city for any eventuality.

Of late, Bangalore has become vulnerable to law and order disturbances in the aftermath of the death of any high profile individual. The most recent instance was following Dr Rajkumar's death.

According to some security experts, some terrorists on the run could be holed up in and around Bangalore as it is considered as a safe haven. The present situation is a godsend for such elements to thrive and indulge in anti-national activities. How the city police and the State Intelligence responds to such an eventuality remains to be seen.
