Walkathon for the Disabled
It's the time to walk the talk for all those who wish to show concern for the disabled. Dec 8, observed the world over as the International Day of the Disabled, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled is organizing 'The Great Walkathon' at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, from 3 pm. The charity walk aims to raise funds for the several activities conducted by the Samarthanam Trust for the welfare of the disabled.
Samarthanam Trust was started by three young, visually impaired graduates and provides education, food and shelter to 200 visually impaired, physically challenged persons belonging to the economically weaker section of the society. 453 children are also provided with integrated education by 22 trained teachers/dedicated volunteers. The trust takes care of the school fees of all these students. It is also providing mid-day meals to 53000 school children spread across 200 schools, with partial support from the State Government.
