Buoyancee fund-raiser for free programmes a superhit!

Dhwani, a fund raiser organised by Buoyancee in association with Nrityanidhi at the Dr Ambedkar Bhavan had everything stamped different about it. The programme took off with a five-year-old Akshat welcoming the audience, while 9-year-old Prathiba gave the vote of thanks, and 9-year-old Fiona was the MC! The dance presented by danseuse Shoma Kaikini defied description, though it was well appreciated by the audience. It was Kathak dance to the beat of filmy songs of Hindi and Kannada! The semi-classical steps set to the rhythm of qawwalis, bhajans, thumris and old hits were foot tapping and the gathering joined in the act.

The Kaikinis, Ajit Kaikini and Sadhna Kaikini (the proud parents of Shoma Kaikini), were buoyed that “people of all age groups from 5-year-olds to 80-year-olds watched the show and more than 90% of the 750-strong audience stayed till the end”. Buoyancee will use the proceeds of the show to conduct free programmes for children and youth in Bangalore as part of Children’s Day celebrations in November.

Shoma Kaikini, the star of the show, is a student of Natyanjali from Bangalore, and a product of Christ College. The show was sponsored by SVC Bank, KAPL, KPTCL, Book Paradise, and Synergie Precision.
