Contemporary & eco-friendly fashion fare

It was the most exciting and glamorous fashion event for fashion freaks: The Hayward’s Black India Men’s Fashion Fair showcased men’s designs by leading designers, in the process winning encomiums from fashion guru Rohit Bal. The young designers were from Bangalore’s premier fashion school, JD Institute of Fashion Technology.

The collections revolved around two contemporary concepts – Global Warming and Reclaiming Garments.

As a step forward for a greener tomorrow, and to sensitize people towards the ill-effects of Global Warming, the JD team put together a contemporary collection that envelops the spirit of freshness and the energetic attitude of the youth today. Believing the adage “change only works when works from within”, the clothes bring out the elements of nature, and the palate used is appropriately chosen. The designs reflect the historic detailing of the dhoti portrayed in trouser form, and shirts that resemble angarkhas overlayed and accentuated with gathers, pleats, bulging balloon silhouettes and garnished with organic shaped trims-wooden button and organic leather trims. Clothes that are contemporary yet eco-friendly.

Reclaim-Restyle-Redefine – this collection seemingly questions the traditional assumptions of the acceptable, common and fixed fashion formulae. Rugged blends with the refined, bold meets beauty and a life of carefree abundance – the garments are designed to reflect the potential of reclaimed garments. Doing away with the normal, the unusual seams and fall of the fabric create new deconstructed forms.

Mr Nealesh Dalal, Managing Trustee of the Institute said his talented students stand to benefit the most from such events and also gain new insights on the workings of the fashion industry.

At JD Institute, the students are provided with a vast exposure to the trends in the fashion industry to meet the demands of the reputed fashion and export houses and placing the deserving students to the right places.
