CDP promises BDA sites at "affordable rates"
If things go according to plan (!), the Bangalorean's dream of owning a BDA site will be fulfilled. Sounds impossible, but that's what the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), expected to be announced before Christmas, Dec 25, is all about. According to BDA officials, the CDP has been prepared taking into account the requirement of Bangaloreans and the drawbacks in the BDA's site allotment system. This is how the latest plan envisages the New Deal for BDA site aspirants in the city:
" The BDA will develop new areas on partnership basis with private builders, and the builders will construct apartments at subsidized rates. These areas will be provided with all facilities such as water, electricity, etc. The main motto of the partnership will be service, planning and affordability.
" The BDA will provide land which will be not more than 20% of the overall apartment cost and the apartments will be developed on partnership basis where the BDA will provide the land and the private builder will develop the areas, build apartments and sell them at affordable prices.
" The BDA will ensure that the areas are well developed with all amenities.
" The apartments will comprise 2-3 bedroom houses and will be customized according to the buyer's preference. Henceforth, there won't be any 20X30 sites, and 30X40 sites that will be made available at reasonable rates.
Sounds great, but if only the government can deliver on its promise…
