In Indiranagar - Daycare OT at Navashakti Netralaya

A day care operating theatre with live relay will be opened shortly in Indiranagar-based Navashakti Netralaya, where the attendants/relatives of the patients can view the actual process of the surgery. The OT is expected to become functional in January, according to its medical director, Dr P Elankumaran.

Navashakthi Netralaya provides comprehensive state of art eye care including topical phacoemulsification i.e. cataract surgery without any injection, stitches, bandage, in less than 10 minutes. Other treatments offered are refractive surgery (LASIK & LASEK & Phakic IOLS for removal of myopia & hyperopia), corneal transplantations, lasers for diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, fields and laser treatment for glaucoma. The centre also provides spectacles and contact lenses. 

The center's medical director Dr Elankumaran is a post-graduate in ophthalmology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and specialized in topical phacoemulsification, corneal transplants and refractive surgery. He has served as Cornea & Refractive Consultant at Nethradhama, and presently he is also a consultant with Columbia Asia Hospitals Pvt Ltd.
