World Heart Day

This year's World Heart Day will be celebrated the world over on Sunday, September 30, 2007, with the theme: 'Team Up for Healthy Hearts'.

Heart disease and stroke is the world's largest killer, claiming 17.5 million lives each year. That's why World Heart Day was created, to create public awareness of risk factors for heart disease and stroke and to promote preventive measures.

The Sagar Foundation has pioneered and facilitated hi-tech cardiac care for the socio-economically weak citizens at subsidized and affordable cost, he said. Under the package, a Coronary Angiography costs Rs. 4,500/-, an Angioplasty Rs. 70,000/- (inclusive of one non-medicated stent and a bypass surgery Rs 70,000/.

Dr Das also sought to allay the wrong impression in some quarters that Sagar hospital was not affordable by the common man. "Some people draw the wrong conclusion from our efficient and hi-tech ambience," he said. "But when they come to us, they will realize that they get A class treatment for a nominal fee." The hospital regularly conducts free diabetic and cardiac camps for the financially weaker sections, he said. At Lalbagh, they conduct free weekly medical camps for senior citizens, and also offer 10-20% discount for those who are advised further treatment at the hospital. The hospital also offers a variety of price-offs on different medical treatments for senior citizens.

On future plans, Dr Das said another hospital would soon be coming up at Padmanabhnagar with 450-beds, and matching international standards, in terms of infrastructure, ambience, medical treatment and facilities.

Another free medical camp will be conducted on Oct 2, 2007, from 9 am to 4 pm, to mark Gandhi Jayanti, at Dayananda Sagar Institutions at Kumaraswamy Layout. Experienced doctors will provide the following treatments at the camp: consultation, random blood sugar (if required), ECG (resting if required), hypertension screening, plus assured discount offers on further diagnostic investigations if advised, at the hospital.

For registration call Mr Kenchana on 9880769758 or Ms. Nandini on 9945966473/22436700.
