Bach flower remedies

Smell the flowers for good health

The Association of Karnataka Bach Flower Remedies Practitioners felicitated Dr Krishnamoorthy, who was the first to bring this alternative medicine to India way back in 1978, while celebrating the 122nd birthday of Dr Edward Bach, the original founder of the therapy, earlier this week.

Dr. Edward Bach a prominent, leading allopathic doctor discovered flower remedies after six years of intense research in London forest in 1936. He eventually discovered 38 types of flower remedies for 38 different human characters. Apart from healing diseases it also is believed to cure social, physical mental and psychological problems without much expense.

Presently, there are over 20,000 persons actively practicing Bach Flower Remedies in India. One such prominent practitioner in Bangalore, is Sesha Sai in JP Nagar, who learnt the science from his guru, Dr Krishnamurthy, and over the past seven years, has treated 1,400 people. Sesha Sai has compiled an exhaustive repertory on the practical applications of Bach Flower remedies for all common types of diseases and emotional disturbances.

Practitioners of this drug-less therapy claim Bach flower remedies has been in vogue the world over, for the past eight decades, and has no side effects. The system is based on energy as the medium of cure and is approved by the WHO.

Born 1886, Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician, was of delicate health and was destined to choose a system that healed others. In the course of his work, he became a bacteriologist and became acquainted with the work of Samuel Hahnemann, the brilliant German doctor who discovered the homeopathic principle of ‘like cures like’ about 150 years earlier. Dr. Bach was happy to realise that his ideas of mind influencing the matter were not new and that Homeopathy recognised this long ago. Treat the person, not the physical symptom was his motto.

Bach Flower Remedies are unlike homeopathic medicines in that they are not potentised. They could be called dilutions at the most. And the dilution is fixed. They are prescribed purely based on mental / emotional symptoms, without reference to the physical symptoms, modalities etc., which form a crucial part in homeopathy. They are selected many times with the active participation of the patient in the treatment process. Since there are only 38 remedies, it may be necessary and it is permitted to mix two or more remedies at a time in the treatment bottle. Bach Flower Remedies can be taken directly from the treatment bottle or mixed with food, tea, coffee, cool drinks, juices etc.

In India, Bach Flower Remedies are available at various homeopathic stores in the form of sugar pills wetted with the liquid.
