Total health checkup @ your doorstep!
When was the last time you took up a total health checkup? When you were free. Or when it was forced upon you. After all, a visit to a diagnostic clinic for undergoing various tests, and collecting the report later, takes away almost a full day. Most of us don’t have that kind of time, and so we put off that all-important visit to the clinic, until we end up in a situation where we have no choice.
Necessity, it is rightly said, is the mother of invention, and that’s how Asha Medical Foundation conceived of this brilliant idea of total health checkup at your doorstep. The diagnostic process is over within 15 minutes, and the complete report is emailed to you in 12 hours.
Known as the Tele Health Scheme (THS), it has been successfully implemented at various camps held specially for traffic police and early morning joggers. According to Priya Srinivas, VP, a team of qualified specialists take the THC kits comprising wireless medical monitors to corporates, traffic personnel and joggers in parks. These monitors communicate with hand-held PDA device, allow acquisition and transmission of data from the patient to the THC medical centre, Chennai through GPRS. The best part is, it is not expensive at all, at Rs 550/- per person (the service is offered free of charge for traffic police).
The THC covers tests for asthma, blood pressure, cardiology and diabetes. For diabetics, the Foundation has come up with a comprehensive health package Dia Package for Rs 1,999/- per year, which includes HB1AC tests, physical examination, blood glucose control, evaluation tests, diet counseling by experts, physiotherapy and guidance by diabetologists. “Diabetes is the number one killer, with one person dying from diabetes-related causes every 10 seconds,” said Priya Srinivas.
The Foundation has conducted free THCs for police personnel at Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Tilaknagar and Banashankari police stations, and also conducted free camps at parks in these areas. It now plans to conduct similar free camps for policemen in Indiranagar, schools and postal department. “The traffic police are particularly exposed to pollution and we have found that many of them suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. Free radicals enter the body when you are exposed to pollution, leading to diabetes, heart disease, stroke and skin disorder,” says Priya.
