Byappanahalli rly stn to be 3rd terminal

Byappanahalli railway station will shortly be developed as the third railway terminal in the city, after City railway station and Yeshwanthpur station. This was announced by South Western Railway (WR) GM, Praveen Kumar while recently inaugurating the new touch screen terminals and a new passenger concourse at the City railway station.

Mr Kumar said both the City railway station and Yeshwanthpur station had reached the saturation point, making it impossible to introduce new trains from these terminals. That is why it was decided to develop Byappanahalli station as the third terminal, he said, adding that the station would also be integrated with the upcoming Metro Rail.

With the opening of a concourse, the City railway station now has seven touch screen terminals, while the Cantonment and Yeshwanthpur stations have two each, and Yelahanka station, one. Another two terminals would be coming up at KR Puram station and one at Whitefield station.
