No water supply for 15 days!

The water wars will soon rather than later in Bangalore, with the water scarcity high on the people's grievance list. Earlier this week, residents of Bangalore East who are the worst hit in the city, took to the streets, demanding that the government restore the regularity of water supply.

Over 200 women carried empty pots and shouted slogans, against the BWSSB and the government.

In Fraser Town, Cox Town, Doddigunte, New Corporation Colony and surrounding areas, taps have gone dry and there has been no water for the past 15 days. Before that, the areas were getting water for an hour between 1 and 2 am and even this, on alternate days. The homemakers had to go through a lot of difficulty, forced to remain awake to catch their daily water requirement. But now, even that has become a luxury they cannot afford, and the residents are forced to patronize the private water tankers which are expensive.

Bharathinagar Residents Forum president NS Ravi said the residents had filed a written complaint with the concerned area engineer and were hoping that the problem would be resolved immediately.
