Vijaya Bk widens its ATM network

From Friday, Aug 3, the over 2.7 lakh ATM cum Debit Card holders of Vijaya Bank have access to more than 13,200 shared ATMs in addition to the bank-owned 171 ATMs. They can withdraw cash up to Rs 15,000/- per day and make balance enquiries at all these ATMs. Similarly other banks’ cardholders can also transact at Vijaya Bank’s own ATMs for cash withdrawals and balance enquiries.

The Bangalore-based PSB has entered into an Agreement with Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad, established by Reserve Bank of India, for sharing of ATMs of other Banks networked through National Financial Switch (NFS).

The NFS network, set up and administered by IDRBT, presently has more than 25 member banks comprising 11 Public Sector and 15 Private Sector Banks. The network covers more than 13200 ATs spread across the country.

Vijaya Bank was among the first few banks in the country to introduce credit cards in the year 1988 in affiliation with both VISA International and MasterCard International. The Bank is also among the first to set up an ATM in Bangalore at Indiranagar during the same year. The bank’s credit cards are internationally valid and come in different variants like City Specific Cards and segment specific cards like Doctors’ Cards, Nurses Card etc.

Vijaya Bank has successfully implemented Finacle based Core Banking Solution (CBS) and presently 475 of the 985 branches of the Bank are networked through Core Banking Solution, covering 81% of the overall business of the Bank. Even the Rural branches of the Bank have been covered under CBS through VSAT and Solar Power Generation for uninterrupted power supply. An official release stated that it is fully geared to extend the CBS coverage to 675 branches to cover more than 90% of the business during the current fiscal and achieve 100% CBS coverage by March 2009.
