Honour for Janaki on her golden jubilee

To millions of music lovers all over the country, S Janaki is the living legend in filmy music - especially South Indian music - who has mesmerized her fans with her mellifluous voice and melody over the past five decades.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of her singing career, Jayanagar-based Ramya Cultural Academy, a registered charitable trust, working for the cause of deserving upcoming artistes and meritorious poor students since its inception in November 1993 has organized a musical meet to felicitate "Nightingale" S Janaki. Venue of the meet is Shikshakara Sadana, KG Road, opp. Cauvery Bhavan, Date: July 28, 2007, Timings: 6 pm.

Top film stars, eminent personalities and connoisseurs of music will join the felicitations, such as Padmabhushan Dr. Sarojadevi B Harsha, Harini, Jayanthi, RN Jayagopal, Rajan, Hamsalekha, Geetapriya, Shivam, Raveem, Justice AJ Sadashiva and Tallam Nanjunda Shetty. The living legend will be honoured with the title of Naada Devathe.

The musical evening will take off with a one-hour performance by artistes and singers of Ramya Musical Academy, followed by the felicitating of the chief guest, and a concert by S Janaki. A book on the veteran singer authored by Srinath, comprising a gist of her songs, along with the music composer, name of film, lyrics, etc will be released on the occasion.

Entry passes can be collected from July 21 onwards at Kannada Sahitya Parishath.
