More Ring Roads to ease traffic congestion

Bangaore's biggest bugbear, traffic congestion, will soon see better days. The government has approved the structural plan of Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Agency (BMRDA) to ease the traffic congestion in the city with the development of three concentric ring roads. The projects will be undertaken on Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis. Around 2,600 acres of land would be acquired for the satellite town ring roads, according to BMRDA Commissioner, Sudhir Krishna. The proposed ring roads are:

Peripheral Ring Road: The BDA is developing a southern PRR and northern PRR, in addition to NICE developing a PRR parallel to the southern part of the PRR of BDA.

BMR-STRR: This arterial road links the eight satellite towns of Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Hoskote, Anekal, Kanakapura, Ramanagaram, Magade and Dobbaspet, to each other and the upcoming international airport near Devanahalli.

BMR-IRR: The Bangalore Metropolitan Region-Intermediate Ring Road will connect Bidadi, Nelamangala, Aradeshanahalli, Devanahalli, Hoskote, Anekal, Thattekere, Harohalli and Tavarekere, with the international airport coming up at Devanahalli.
