Know your Formal Dressing.
By Latika R Chuganey

Here are some useful tips for youngsters
and students on how to land a hot job this summer.

It's time for all the final year graduation and post graduation students to gear themselves up and meet the demands of the companies that conduct campus or walk-in interviews. Though most students are equipped with thorough knowledge of their chosen discipline, but their outer app earance takes a back seat. Being well groomed for an interview is one of the most important keys to success.

Nowadays many private placement centers are also training students in corporate etiquettes as well as corporate dressing.

For young men the basic dress code for an interview is a well-ironed formal shirt, preferably white or blue shades. Well-fitted dark colour trousers are mostly recommended. Accessories like belt, ties, watches and well-fitted socks are a must. The tie must blend or contrast nicely with the shirt. For example a dark blue-stripped tie would blend in beautifully with a light blue shirt. Belts must match the colour of the trouser. Avoid wearing big buckles that props up above the shirt. Trendy designs or logos of famous brands on the buckles are in vogue.

One must also pay attention to the socks one wears. Match the socks to the colour of your formal shoe or trouser. Avoid wearing white socks; remember you are out of school and now stepping into the corporate world! Wearing sneakers must be strictly avoided. Regular formal shoes are mostly suited. Match the colour of the shoe with your trouser or socks. A mild application of perfume or deodorant makes one feel fresh for a long time.

If the men are power professionals in the corporate world, women are already making quick bucks in the same field.  The days are past when the softer gender wore occasional sarees or a simple cotton salwar kameez for an interview.

With the latest change in trend and lifestyle, women have learnt to dress formally keeping globalization in mind. Young women can wear formal suits, for example a white blouse with a knee length skirt and an over coat. Suits can be in shades of grey, navy blue and black. Plain sarees or with less border is absolutely fine for conservative women. Avoid wearing jazzy and glittery sarees. Keep in mind that the saree is well pinned. The salwar kurta must be well stitched with minimalist embroidery or work done on it. Minimal accessories must be worn. A watch, a thin chain, small earrings and a thin bangle or a thin bracelet will do well. The watch must match the colour of your accessories. For example, if silver accessories are worn, the watch must be in silver.

Long hair must be tied into a knot and must be well pinned. Avoid fashionable hairstyles. The outer appearance can be misunderstood. Wear minimalist makeup. Avoid wearing loud make up. Wear a light lipstick that matches your saree, kurta or suit. Wear a kajal so that it highlights your eyes and makes you feel fresh, and dab a compact that matches your skin colour. Avoid wearing high heels; flats or an inch heel will keep you trim. Due to long waiting hours, your legs might begin to hurt and make u look fatigue.

Carry a purse with basic necessities like a handkerchief, lipstick to re-do if dulled, kajal to re-do if ruined, a compact to keep your skin fresh, a wet napkin that's helps in removal of make up.  Lastly, a mild application of perfume or deodorant makes one feel fresh for a long time.
Good luck to you all!
