Change over crisis

Karnataka is set to see a change of guard shortly. With CM Kumarswamy term closing in, his deputy BJP's yedurappa will claim for the chair as agreed to at the time of formation of the coalition. It is easier said than done. Over the past few months both the JD(s) and BJP has been making noices and throwing charges against each other to gain physiological advantage. The JD (s) supremo Deve Gowda is not new to such situations, but is at his best when the going is tricky. The JD(s) has smelt power with kumaraswamy at the helm of affairs. The other Gowda son in waiting, Revanna will like to continue from his brother. The Gowda clan itches to make the CM post a family affair, all with blessing of father Deve Gowda.

The situation although has some similarities in the BJP camp, the difference is that the party is poised to send in its first CM candidate to the state. The power struggle is on and there are serious parleys with the Congress on the next government. The last leg of Karnataka's five year term may turn out be a turbulent one as one can see from the present situation. The BJP could fall at the finish and have to nurse their dreams.

Ethical politics does not make sense in Indian democracy and politicians lead in unethical practices which should see crisis in the state. Kumaraswamy's performance as the CM has been reasonable, but the fight for power could end up in a snap poll. It is a right time for the people to judge coalition politics and opposition performance. A political crisis is not healthy for the state which is moving on economic high growth with sound finances and the stage is set for consolidation.
