With asphalting of road

Much awaited relief for residents

It was a welcome relief to residents of Basavanagar, Vignannagar, Malleshpalya and BEML area. The road from Thippasandra BEML junction to ADA passes through a densely populated area where a large number of residential flats dot the landscape. This road had an incomplete portion between Vignannagar and Basavanagar. The majority of the road had been asphalted, but a two km stretch had remained without a top cover for years. Residents had to bear the burnt of using this road since it was bumpy, the air filled with mud and slushy during rainy season. The good news is, this nightmarish stretch has now been asphalted.

This paper had been repeatedly reporting on this issue, and it is gratifying to note that the authorities have now sprung into action.

The stretch of road from BEML Junction to ADA is usually preferred by motorists to bypass the busy airport road leading to unprecedented traffic and jams. The residents of this area have no choice but to use their own vehicles since transport facilities are poor here. This CMC area had been left unattended although this road had come into focus long before and the PWD with the help of other authorities had formulated plans to complete this road at the earliest.

Residents expressed happiness over the recent completion of this road, but were unable to fathom the total disregard of the authorities to public concern for such a long period although it was a small stretch that had given them sleepless nights.

While they are now relieved, it has to be tempered by the fact that the adjoining roads in the periphery continue to be a nightmare for motorists. Development is the theme, but the greater the delay, the old sob story will continue.
