Murder mystery in Shantinagar

Nirmala School grounds in Shantinagar is not a pretty sight at the best of times, but on Wednesday morning, it caught the attention of passersby. A dead man lay in a drain near the school grounds, later identified by the police as Dhan Bahadur, a 40-year-old security guard.

The deceased was working for the past four years in the house of builder Srinivas Prasad on Nanjappa Road.

Police suspect the deceased was involved in a prostitution racket, as they found a woman’s night dress and a dupatta on his body.

A native of Nepal, Bahadur used to work in Srinivas Prasad’s house till 5.30 pm in the evening and after that, used to go for work at the builder’s construction company on Hosur Road. The day before his death, Bahadur had reported for duty at the builder’s house as usual and left in the evening, but he did not go to the Hosur Road office.

According to information available with the police, he was regularly seen in the company of four other Nepalese gurkhas after work. Police are probing his links with them to crack the murder mystery.
