An Email can help cancer victims
What does it take to help a few hundred cancer victims? Sending an email! This is no prank, and it has the blessings of Tata icon Ratan Tata. Read on.
A non-profit organization wished to help a group of labourers - lime extractors and stone breakers working in a quarry in a remote village near Dharwad. Due to continuous exposure to hazardous materials, the labourers numbering around 500, are afflicted with a rare cancer breeding virus, which can be still be treated as they are at an early stage of detection.
The organization contacted Tata Hospital, Mumbai, who agreed to send them special equipment and medicines, but the expenditure runs into a few lakhs of rupees. The labourers, given their status, simply cannot afford the expenses. A philanthropist minded group of 6 doctors and 10 medical helpers have decided to come to their help.
