CyberLearning Announces “COMPUDON” - India’s First-Ever Official Championship on Microsoft Office application skills
Hunt is ON for top 05 students from across the country to do India proud at the Certiport Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office in August 2011 in San Diego, USA.
CyberLearning, the official test delivery solution provider for the workforce and academic markets of India, announced the launch of the first-ever official championship on Microsoft Office application skills– COMPUDON 2011 - a competition focused on students’ ability to demonstrate proficiency utilizing the world's foremost desktop computing applications in the global marketplace.
With the vast majority of jobs across almost all sectors demanding computer literacy as a necessary prerequisite, this contest provides eligible students with the ability to achieve more and stand out which enables them to advance in today's competitive academic and professional environments.
According to a recent study sponsored by Microsoft involving 13 countries, finding employees with the right skills has become a major issue for employers and millions face being locked out of the job market due to their lack of computer skills. The study also found that 58% of employers believe the education sector is not doing enough to prepare the young for the modern workplace.
Top 05 performing students, one each in Word, Excel & PowerPoint (2007 version) & Word & Excel (2010 version) will proudly represent India for the first time in the worldwide contest that will be held at San Diego, USA, in August 2011. CyberLearning will also be sponsoring the trip to USA for these 05 finalists.
Students between the age of 13-25 years, enrolled in an approved academic institution and who pass any one of the qualifying Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams pertaining to Word, Excel or PowerPoint are eligible to compete. There are tons of awards and precious recognition for Winners of COMPUDON 2011.
CyberLearning will be sending invitations to academic institutes across India for participation in COMPUDON 2011. Any affiliated school or college across India can participate in the championship with a minimum enrollment of 25 students per institute. Students have to pay a nominal participation fee which will also entitle them for the complimentary preparation courseware in the form of a book and a CD. A lab of the institute and a coordinating faculty will also be equipped by the essential exam resources provided by CyberLearning.
This is the seventh year of the highly well regarded Certiport Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office applications. Since its inauguration this exam has become extremely popular as evidenced by the doubling of the number of exams entered worldwide in comparison with last year. Honoring the important role that certification plays in the standards and assessment community, this premier student technology competition helps validate the fact that students have the expertise needed to compete in the global workforce. Participants who outperform their peers and make the final round of the Competition generally have perfect or near-perfect exam scores and completion times well below the allotted examination time.
"The students of today will be competing in a global economy and that means their skills need to be world-class," said Ray Kelly, CEO, Certiport. "With industry, government and consumers all over the world recognizing the importance and value of industry-recognized credentials, this regional competition is designed to be a catalyst encouraging more students to seek certification. In turn, they will become competent employees able to fulfill workforce opportunities."
