Wipro Furniture Business Collaborates with New York based designer "Eric Chan" and launches a Designer & Premium chair range "ICAN"
 Wipro Furniture, a business unit of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, launches "I CAN" a premium chair specially and exclusively designed by Eric Chan -New York based International Designer. The company tied up with the designer in 2008. For over a year, Wipro and Eric Chan extensively researched the Indian conditions including exhaustive customer research and interactions with leading architects. The result of this exhaustive study is a specific chair developed for Indian conditions. Wipro Furniture has filed for a patent as well for ICAN.
"ICAN will raise the bar for our Chair product range significantly. We have established our
. credentials as an Innovative, design led company with Startline designer furniture range designed by London based designer Tim Wallace and also the "WE" and "1M" furniture designed by our in house team. Now with ICAN, we are giving our customers the choice of an international styled chair range" said Mr. Vineet Agrawal - President Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group.
"ICAN will be made at our Chennai plant. We are happy to collaborate with Eric Chan, an internationally acclaimed designer and together launch a very contemporarily styled range of chairs" added Mr. Agrawal.
Commenting on the launch, Eric Chan said "When Wipro contacted me I was excited to work in India considering the impact India has on the new world order. From my study and extensive visits, I found that Indian work space and culture is very different from other parts of the world and is quite unique. It was necessary to think completely differently to address the India -specific Challenges. The concept of ICAN chair is a result of my intuitive study of the unique needs of Indian offices. Its simple & contemporary design fits well with the dynamic and sophisticated identity of modern offices".
"Eric Chan has extensively studied the Indian office space and understands that Indian knowledge worker's needs are distinct. The Aeroflo TM seat design, designed by Eric Chan for Wipro prevents fatigue that develops from sitting in the same position for long hours.
