Timken, Round Table to help uplift school in rural Bangalore

The Government Middle Primary School at Hebbagodi, Bommasandra in Anekal taluk will soon get a huge facelift that will help students get a better atmosphere to pursue their studies.

This follows a grant of $ 48,500 (Rs.22 lakh aprox) that Round Table India has received from Timken Foundation. Timken is a Global Multinational fortune 500 Company engaged in the manufacturer of bearings and special quality steel.

The grant will help Round Table India to build four new class rooms with concrete roofs, two new toilet blocks (one for girls and one for boys), convert asbestos sheet roofs to concrete roofs for 2 more class rooms and supply chairs and benches for 150 students.

This project will help the society which is situated around Bommasandra Industrial Area and help the School to provide better infrastructure and give education to more number of children in this area. The Toilet blocks being built will specially help the girl child to attend classes regularly and not bother about natures call. This project will help around 200 to 250 students. It will better their studying conditions so that they can concentrate on their studies and produce better results.

Today, the school project was dedicated to Mr.Vivek Vardhan Prasad, President, Round Table India by Mr. Ajay Das, Managing Director of Timken India Limited.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Vivek Vardhan Prasad, President, Round Table India said, ‘Our long term project is called Freedom Through Education. Under which we build infrastructures for school for under privileged children mostly in rural areas. As of date, Round Table India has already built 3700 classrooms at on outlay of Rs.90 cores in the last 10 years across the country, averaging to almost one class room per day since we started this project, Impacting 100,000 children per year. All the work of Round Table India is done through a completely transparent process and it follows an audit process, where all monies are accounted for and its extensive project implementation experience and expertise ensures the most effective utilization of funds’ he said.
