Infosys to hire 1 mn SSLC pass
IT major Infosys will recruit one million people every year, 80% of whom will be SSLC pass. A company press release stated Infosys had major expansion plans lined up for the next five years and in line with this policy, would need at least five lakh new trained hands in the near future. The company also made its preference clear to the less qualified stream, rather than engineering graduates and MBAs "who tend to leave the company in pursuit of bigger and better jobs", said a HR official. "Our present attrition rate is very high," said the official. "So we intend to go downscale, hire those who are tenth pass and give them complete training to equip them with their jobs." But what about the salaries, would they be suitably downsized too? "No," the official replied. "The salaries will be on par with the best in the world, even though we are not looking for the cream of the educated unemployed. After all, we have to keep in mind the Infosys' brand equity."

Best Jobs Inc, a HR consulting company, said the new Infosys' offer could well set off a chain reaction among other IT companies like Wipro, TCS and Cognizant. "It's a new trend that would be a dream come true for millions of the unemployed," said Abhishek Verma, the company president. "From now on, there will be a huge demand, not for engineers/MBAs and the like, but for those who are tenth pass."
